No solder, simple to assemble battery holder. Basically, the springs keep the contact pressed against wire.
All you have to do is insert the wire, pliers help, bend the contacts, insert the contacts, bend up to hold in place and you're done.
OOK 25 ft. 35 lb. 18-Gauge Copper Hobby Wire (Home Depot)
16MM*18.5MM Spring Contact (AliExpress)
This is for assembling a charging station.
Based on this concept: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Qd51dB8sGA
However, nickel strips don't carry current very well, so upgraded to solid copper wire.
Try not to place the batteries backwards. If you do, it's not actually a big deal. The spring contact will burn off instantly and you'll need to replace it, but the rest of the system won't heat up at all.
