There exists a pressure to grow up; a pressure to succeed; and a pressure to establish oneself. Growing up, however new and exciting, is a process that can be imposed too early upon contemporary adolescents. In childhood there is curiosity, fantasy, and time for play. But as a child grows, toys are abandoned and replaced with textbooks, homework, and college catalogs. From then on, there is a persistent pressure, reinforced by parents, teachers, and peers, to be somebody.
