Simple 3D Hexagon landscape

I wanted to create some simple hexagonal items and built a little function set to calculate cartesian coordinates to hexagonal ones.
this program shows some simple landscape (cos/sin interference) I generated to test it..

dunno if it makes sense to anybody or is even usefull.. but if so, show me what you've done with it :-)
