22mm Microscope Extension Arm

This is a swivel type extension arm for 22mm pole mounted microscopes common on aliexpress that measure 74mm top to bottom of the mechanism. It allows the original mount to be connected 8cm away from the original pole while retaining most of the strength and still allowing you to use the height adjustment knob of the original mount. If you're using this, ensure the platform that the pole is connected to can handle the rotational load added by cantilevering using this arm. I had to clamp mine down to the desk to make this work.

V1 of the mount has a 42mm base that is only 2.8mm thick, without the tension arm installed it is quite weak at the base of the pole. I've left it here as it's still potentially useful, but I'd recommend the v2 instead.

The v2 adds a 1cm thick tapered base to the underside sloping down to 36mm instead of 42 for added strength, it also adds some retention tabs to the main body for the tension clip above. so that when you lower the assembly the tension clip moves
