Some bike forks/racks have an M5 threaded eyelet available for various purposes. One popular use for these is to mount a light or accessory, especially if you need it to be forward of cargo. These simple cylinders are usually sold separately. Examples include the Origin8 Eyelet Stub and the Gino light mount. I wanted something cheaper, shorter, and with edges that would prevent the light from falling off.
