It's just for decoration. That's it and that's all, man.
It is anatomically correct and mechanically functional, though. I was really impressed when the printed threads actually let me put this on my hub. Maybe I'll make a colorful or glow in the dark one to put on the unused side of my hub.
This is modeled after the best cog, the Shimano Dura-Ace Track Cog. It comes in 13 to 17 teeth, so this one does too.
