This shape provides more efficient cooling in comparison with thin angular tubes. I actually compared them. Some polymers require more intensive cooling in order to stay transparent.
I was printing with styrene acrylonitrile which is characterized by a rather high shrinkage. When printing with a different polymer, the model might end up with different dimensions. Have fun printing!
