This was a solution to the fact that the Tronxy x8 has no x axis belt tensioner, and the belt rubs on the bearing of the extruder carriage when using the bearing as-is.

NOTE: If you have a smaller bearing handy, please use a different belt tensioner such as the following:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1683070 (makes your printer a bit wider)
