The Kagome Lattice is one instance of a geometric structure called uniform tiling. Specifically, the Kagome Lattice is a type of trihexagonal tiling, where a repeated structure is made up of triangles and hexagons. I learned of it through a presentation at a meeting of the physics group I work for at Brandeis University.
