Detachment of a print from the build plate on bottom up resin printers is a common print failure. The ratio of surface area attached to the build plate to the cross sectional area of the part is the driving factor for this. Using a stepped raft provides more surface area attached to the build plate and because the edges of the raft are gradually thinner there is no warping or curling at the edges of the raft.
