The best way I found is to connect with a 6 mm dowel and 40 x Ø4 mm wood screw. The dowel must be inserted into the hole with a mallet. It runs very easily and does not create a problem. Then take the model where there is has now 4 angle joints. The connection is very robust and holds very well.
