This is a basic spool holder I designed. It's smaller, lighter, and faster to print than most.
Print 4 of these, place a 608 bearings on each bearing-shaft, and push them together. It should be a snug friction fit. If not, you can put a touch of glue at the end of the rods.
Do this twice, and you should have 2 assemblies, that you just sit your spool on.
+1 if you use 3D printed bearings.
I like these, even though they do use BBs.
