I recently bought a CR-10 printer. Having the spool holder on the control box is a nuisance, so I fixed the spool holder to the top of the frame. This is a much better place, but it means the filament goes straight down to the extruder.

I made this in TinkerCad to provide a gentle curved surface for the filament to follow. The file is public.
