This uses the same bearings as the pillow block mod for the Solidoodle (686ZZ). Did this so I could use one bearing for both mods. Everything is working well. Still searching for a rigid 5mm to 8mm coupling for the Z-shaft, but using a flexible one for now and seems okay. Read instructions from original thing. I used 2 washers for the bearings to sit on.
If using this mod on the solidoodle, you may need to re-position the bed very high (So that the 3 bed screws are just barely inserted in the platform) so that the hex nuts that hold the 686ZZ bearings in place do not hit the y-axis rod when Z is at home.
This can cause the bed to be loose and wobble so i designed some standoffs that tighten things up a bit. If you are interested in the STL let me know, but it's pretty simple.
Thanks 2n2r5, nice job with scad file for this.
