Original light kit for the ceiling fan was AWFUL so I had to make a lampholder for a standard bulb. I gutted the light kit bracket and used it to make a base with a lamp socket and some hot glue. The shroud goes over the base / socket and then the bulb screws in holding it in place. The holes on the shroud line up with the 3 existing holes in the kit base.
This probably works with any of the screw off diffuser style light kits with a 3 hole attachment keyhole base.
I know it's ugly and I don't care. It allowed me to ditch the crappy small dual halogen arrangement for a standard bulb and now I get full, even light everywhere.
This works as a good template for attaching something that isn't as ugly, until then it's affectionately known as "ceiling dingus".
Somebody make a shade that snaps onto the bulb to make a nice shade.
