I found the clips on the original to be way to big to actually fit into the mounting grooves on my camera, maybe because I scaled it up quite a bit, for my 18-105mm lens, which has a larger diameter(I think officially it's a 67mm lens, but the outer diameter where you attach the hood is about 72mm) than the 18-55mm lens. So if you have a large diameter lens, try this, and for smaller diameters the original might fit better, as the clips on this might become too small if you scale it down.
