The 70mm fan on this pc had gotten noisy and I only had a 80mm on hand. This will allow you to install an 80mm fan and keep all the airflow it creates going through the fins on the heat sink. Even though the 80mm fan has a lower cfm than the 70mm fan I am seeing the same temps with the quieter slower 80mm fan at 100% cpu usage.
