How about a single scutoid that tessellates with itself to create a four cell configuration?
The model is also a polyhedron, which I think is necessary for it to tessellate in this configuration. I think any non-planar internal faces would create gaps or overlaps.
Four nested scutoids create a prismatic octagon with regular octagon faces.
