On my airsoft MP7 the rails are made of metal, just like most of the body. But to shave down just slightly on the weight I made these printed rails.

I did however make this one with a flat top, this is so I can glue some velcro (hook&loop) onto it and mount the pressure switch for my flashlight onto it.
