Compaq LTE 286 Battery Replacement

I recently picked up a Compaq LTE 286 laptop from a thrift store for $15 with the caveat being that it did not have either the battery or the AC adapter included. As this type of machine is quite old getting a replacement would be quite difficult so I decided to just see what I could make on my own.
