This adapter is designed for a 30mm fan with a 36mm wide mounting diameter. The hole in the case should be 36.4mm. Weird size, I know, but my circle cutter wasn't adjusted properly. The outer bolt circle diameter will accommodate up to about a 40mm diameter hole in the Pi case, although with that large of a hole, it will be tricky to center. A smaller (than 40mm diameter) hole will give plenty of extra material to drill holes in the case lid, even if the adapter isn't centered perfectly.
A 1.5" holesaw will make ~38.1mm hole, which should work fine. A 1.375" (1-3/8") holesaw will make a hole slightly smaller than the bottom of the adapter, just under 35mm.
It's designed for M2.5 hardware. I used some with T9 torx heads around 4.8mm in diameter.
M2.5 screws will thread directly into the adapter where the fan mounts. The other mounting holes are larger, so you'll either need nuts to mount it, or drill ~2.35mm holes in the case top and form your own threads by driving the scr
