I have a hand-me-down espresso machine and had lost the coffee smasher (tamper) many moons ago.
I finally got tired of trying to use a spoon to smoosh the grounds; so I designed this in TinkerCAD.
It is designed to handle the pressure and twisting motion.

Dimensions: 28mm tall, 51mm diameter.
