ZiModem is a project by Bo Zimmerman to use an esp8266 as a simulated modem for retro computers to start telnet sessions (and more) as they where dialup connections:

This is a case for a NodeMCU v3 board vaguely resembling the look of a certain kind of modem from back in the 90ies... ;)
