1971 VW Bus Air Cleaner thermostat holder

The original 1971 VW bus airbox thermostat opened up a flap allowing warm air to come up from the exhaust, when the engine was cold, improving warm up time and lowering emissions. When the engine was warm the thermostat would close the flap allowing cool outside air into the carburetor. The original thermostat is no longer available but this allows you to use a Calostat / Wahler 1266826 modern thermostat part made for Volvo 240's.
