I've just swapped my CTC i3 clone to an e3D hotend and Bowden setup.

It's working very nicely - I just needed a place to put the extruder motor.
Initially cable tied in place to continue using the printer, the position proved to work ok so I mocked up the top Z-axis plate and added a basic method to hold the motor.
It allows you clip the motor in and secure with a cable tie.
It allows easy access to the filament guide block.
