This design is a mount for the Gamecube's joystick that allows the joystick to be placed on the bottom of the controller. This makes it very easy to control the joystick with your leg. The idea behind this part is to make the Gamecube controller more accessible for people with limb differences or people who have a hard time holding the controller with two hands.
