“Archer’s rings” which are authentic to Turkish-Asian archery cultures, are tools that were designed to draw shorter bows. Turks used words like “zihgîr” (or zehgîr) (pronunciation “zeehgeer”), “şast” (or “şest”)(pron. shust) from Persian for archer’s rings. It is also known that other words from Persian such as “küştüvan”(pron. kooshtoovan) in Mameluke sources and “engüştvâne”(pron. engushtvana) among Turkic cultures in the pre-Ottoman era were used.
