The purpose of the case is to reduce accidental shorts, protection for the pins and an easy way for mounting the PCB.
The PCB boards snap into place inside the case and you get 2 mounting holes or tabs for the Creality cr20 printer (possibly others). I do not know what other printers it will work with, but I can say the extruded aluminum it attaches to is roughly 40mmx40mm.
In normal mount mode:
I have the holes 5mm diameter for #8 wood screws.
