This device helps to prevent a household family member or roommate from accidentally locking the interior-access-only deadbolt on an exterior door while you are out. A typical scenario might be if everyone else has already gone to bed, and you decide to go outside for a walk, or to swim laps in the pool. While you are out, someone gets up, notices that the interior deadbolt hasn't been locked yet, and locks it -- then returns to bed. How will you get back in?
