On my Anycubic i3 mega I had problems with prints that use a lot retraction movements. The stepper motor of the filament feeder got so hot, that the filament got soft and bent within the feeder.
I created a little box that takes two 40mm PC cooling fans to blow cool air into the feeder mechanism. Since then I had no failing prints anymore.
