Previously I published a variety of gears and gear-generator files. These gears all had involute teeth. But recently I've needed cycloidal gears, so I've created some files to generate arbitrary cycloidal gears.
Involute and cycloidal gears use different curves to define the gear tooth shape (you can look up "involute curve" and "cycloidal curve" to learn more). My understanding is that involute gears are preferable for most machinery, because most machines use a high-speed, low-torque engine or motor to drive a low-speed, high-torque load. But when you need to use a low-speed, high-torque power source to drive a high-speed, low-torque load, then cycloidal gears will be more efficient.
So here I'm publishing a few files that can generate arbitrary cycloidal gears. They're significantly less stable than my involute gear generators, as Solidworks doesn't like the parametric curves that I have to generate. But they've been fairly reliable for my uses.
