Plastic standoffs are oddly expensive so I made my own. The hole is worked out to be just the right size to get a solid thread with minimal force using a 4-40 tap drill ($5-10 at any hardware store). Using a tap drill is highly recommended for a solid fit. In a pinch you can screw in 4-40 machine screws with a screwdriver and some force.
Thread on both sides to use as separators between boards.
Takes about half a gram of PLA for 1" standoff and 1-2 minutes per standoff. Good use for the last meter or two of a spool.
Lengths: 1/4", 1/2", 3/4", 1", 2"
Size: 6.2mm from flat side to side.
Material: PLA tested, others presumably work
Infill: 100%
Temperature: 195-200C
Height: .3mm
Outer shape: Hexagon
The base is included to make your own custom length and hole sizes, so you can make them fit any screw. I have found they stay strong and effective as large as ~4.3mm (up to 8-32 or M4 screws) without expanding the outer diameter.
Used 1.42mm radius for 4-40 screws with a tap
