5th Munitions Maintenance Squadron Coaster

I designed a coaster using the squadron patch from the 5th Munitions Maintenance Squadron (MMS) that I was assigned to at Minot Air Force Base. The 5th MMS maintained and loaded the ADM-20 Quail decoy, AGM-28 Hound dog, AGM-69A SRAM, AGM-86B ALCM, as well as conventional and special weapons. Minuteman RVs were also maintained. I was assigned to the 5th MMS in June 1977 and worked in shop on the SRAM guidance and control systems and transferred to the flight line in B-52 aircraft checkout. The 5th MMS was deactivated and replaced by the 5th Maintenance Squadron (MXS).

This is a series of drink coasters highlighting the USAF squadrons that worked on the AGM-69A Short Range Attack Missile (SRAM) carried by the B-52, B-1B, and the FB-111A during th Cold War. The SRAM replaced the AGM-28 Hound Dog and was in active service from 1972-1990.

This is the first coaster in the series and depicts the 5th Munitions Maintenance Squadron (MMS) patch. The 5th MMS was based at Minot AFB, ND.
