Here are four decorative plaques and the triangular based motifs from which they are constructed. Six copies of a simple motif are rotated, each by a different multiple of 60 degrees, around a common axis. The six copies are then combined with openSCAD to form a plaque with 6-fold symmetry. Seven stl files are provided, 3 simple motifs, and 4 sixfold plaques: motif_11.stl a simple motif made of 11 triangles motif_12.stl a simple motif made of 12 triangles motif_18.stl a simple motif makde of 18 triangles plaque_11.stl a plaque derived from motif_11 plaque_12.stl a plaque derived from motif_12 plaque_18a.stl a plaque derived from motif_18 plaque_18b.stl a plaque derived from motif_18 The openSCAD program that produced the plaques is an experiment suggested by the nice way that the triangular based terdragons combine to form six fold arrays - see thing:69361. It contains 9 motifs and uses a simple method for choosing rotational axes. The motifs and a few examples of the translation method are included in a pdf file.
