This pocket blower is a remix of revsin's Button Spinner Fan that addresses a couple of issues with his original. Firstly, his fan blows in all directions, so I added a housing to redirect the breeze all in one direction. Secondly, and more importantly, he points out that when spinning at several thousand RPM, if the turbine fails, it'll send debris flying into your face. Here, the housing will catch any fragments in the event of a failure. But it works just the same as his -- essentially a button spinner toy that pushes air. Not hugely useful, but fun to play with. Watch it go at: https://youtu.be/u5pbc9Ye0gQ **ASSEMBLY** To complete the assembly, you will need some high strength fishing line, 2 or 3 thin rubber bands, a little bit of lubricant (like vaseline) and a few drops of superglue. First superglue the axle into the bottom of the turbine. Then fit the turbine into the housing -- the blades should curve towards the outlet. If everything spins completely freely, add a little lubricant to the axle and then tape the two halves together tightly. (You'll glue it after you verify that it works.) Then on each side, thread about 24" of fishing line through the axle and the pull-ring and tie the ends together. Loop together 2 or 3 rubber bands and shove one end through the hole in the housing and clip one end to each pull-ring. To get started spinning, pull the two pull-rings out to the side with all the lines parallel and then lay on a table. Spin the turbine a few times to give the string an initial twist. Pull the rings apart gently to spin up to speed, letting off on the tension as the string untwists. The inertia will cause the string to twist up again in the opposite direction, ready for you to pull again. Note that if you pull too hard, the housing will start to chatter (as you can see in the video). Once everything is working, you can go ahead and superglue the housing halves together.
