The Sonic Screwdriver is based on the fictional device featured in the Doctor Who series. This version is based on the 9th and 10th Doctor's (Tennant/Smith). Using a combination of official photos and unofficial sketches, this sonic matches the visual proportions and scale of the television prop, including the base extension of the sonic's head, by pushing a slider on the side. The sonic has been designed in 8 parts, which thread and slider together to create the final product. .Given the detailed nature of the design and the precision of the parts, a resin printer may work best for this design. A precisely calibrated FDM printer should work for most of the parts, but the smaller parts may require some careful orientation and tweaks on an FDM. Most parts should print without supports on any FDM printer, if properly oriented on the flat and broadest end..While not a standard fidget toy, playing with the slide switch is strangely addictive and the assembly is simple and fun. The sonic has been designed to allow for the addition of wires and electronics, should you wish to add a some wires, a battery and perhaps a small LED. I have no specifics on how to do this, but I just tried to leave space for them..No gluing, just screw most of it together using the printed parts, in the listed order. It should be easy to print and easy to assemble, using one material or several to customize the look and style.Parts (top to bottom)..Parts listed in assembly order.GemCrownCrownCoreCoreSlide (screw core into slide top, slot coreSlide into BodyMain)CoreCap (slide over core until it sits on bodyMain and then screw to body)BodyMainBodyLower (screw onto bottom of BodyMain)BottomCap (screw onto bottom of bodyLower)
