A moderately strong, compact, and balanced 9S6P radial flux brushless DC motor
Additional parts required to purchase:
- 20 AWG Gauge Enameled Copper Wire for winding the stator (about $10 on Amazon)
- A non-hall effect BLDC Electronic Speed Controller (about $15 on Amazon)
- 2 x 608 bearings for end-caps
- 12 of 20 x 10 x 3mm ND50 magnets (actually 19.2 x 9.6 x 2.75mm). (About $10 for 30 on Amazon)
Printer supports needed for the stator poles
Stator has 40 turns per pole in a simple ABCABCABC winding pattern. I used a Wye/Star style connection for simplicity, but Delta is also fine of course.
The magnets are just press-fit into place in pairs for added magnetic flux strength. The magnet poles are NSNSNS around the rotor.
This design has a large amount of air-gap between the stator and the rotor magnets because the rotor is intended to be sealed within a pump casing, so this design is a proof of concept that the stator will provide sufficient torque to start the pum
