AA Dover Castle contour map

Dover castle is a historic English Heritage site and a place I have visited many times during my childhood as a local of the area.

I created this as a test piece for a tactile contour map that had the main elements of the castle walls and buildings overlaid onto the contours.

To create this map I started by using the Contour Map Creator (https://contourmapcreator.urgr8.ch/) and then Google Maps and historical map examples to overlay the buildings in the correct locations.

The height figures are presented in raised letter text and are probably too small in this example piece to be of true use. The text “Dover Castle” is also presented in raised letters and UK Grade 2 Braille. In future examples I will use full Braille for the key as well.
