Why would you need an adjustable spark gap you ask? well, why wouldn't you need an adjustable spark gap?
in all seriousness this would work well for a mini Tesla coil or EMP generator. it uses 2 3 mm bolts as electrodes and you can adjust the gap by screwing in and unscrewing the bolts, i aslo hear this would work as a spark tester for gasoline engines
