once the spring is latch is put into the housing it can not be removed. when attaching the assembled latch put the latch into the clasp and make sure the gap between the spring case and the clasp is as small as possible for best latch strength. 3m double sided tape is recommended as well as thicker tapes to bridge the gap to the AirPods I used alien tape
