Angle Jig for Vise

Here is a simple 3D printable angle jig for a milling machine vise. Measure the width and height of your vise jaws and specify the angle of the jig you want along with the width of the jig. For a typical 6" wide vise, 15° is about the steepest angle you can make, assuming the thick end is as tall as the vise jaws. You can make the jig taller than the vise for steeper angles, but the jig works best when it's about the same height as the vise jaws. That way, you can cut angles down to a knife edge if needed.

Used to make these out of aluminum stock but it would take hours of setup time to make each angle. These were used to make high accuracy steel shims. After saw cutting, stick each shim on the jig in the vise, tighten down the vise and fly cut the surface of the shim to the exact angle of the jig. Then swap in the other shim and cut it to the same angle and thickness with zero setup time.

Make the jig a bit narrower than the part you want to machine, that way the vise jaws
