MakerWorld Description (English): This is a compact, fully 3D-printable kinetic object designed to demonstrate smooth motion through gravity and clever geometry. When the object is flipped upside down, an internal section slides downward along a helical path. Repeating this motion allows the piece to continuously “roll” through itself, creating a satisfying and hypnotic movement. The design features a twisted central body constrained between two outer rings. Thanks to the spiral geometry, the internal section naturally follows a guided path, enabling both linear sliding and rotational movement. The object can also rotate around its own axis, adding an extra layer of interaction and playability. All parts are designed to be printed in PLA and assembled with a press-fit (snap-fit) system. No glue, screws, or additional hardware are required. The tolerances are optimized for easy assembly while maintaining smooth motion between the moving components. Key Features: Fully 3D printable (no supports needed depending on orientation) Print-in-place or simple assembly design Smooth gravity-driven motion Interlocking parts – no glue required Works as a kinetic desk toy or demonstration of mechanical motion Can rotate on itself as well as slide internally Printing Tips: Material: PLA recommended Layer height: 0.2 mm Ensure good dimensional accuracy for smooth movement Slight sanding may improve motion if tolerances are tight A simple yet elegant design that combines motion, geometry, and satisfying interaction—perfect as a desk toy, educational model, or showcase of 3D printing capabilities.
