The "basket" that comes with the filter was only designed to hold a sponge and small bags of media which didn't work for my purposes - I wanted to fill the entire chamber with Seachem Matrix for biological filtration.
For anyone concerned with 3D printed parts in an aquarium - I hear you and agree with you. This is in a nano aquarium that gets a 50% water change once a week. Plastics leech things off very slowly, so there shouldn't be hardly any chemicals finding their way into the water.
I purposefully didn't add grating to the front of the basket (clogs result in overflows onto the counter/floor), so I'd recommend you soak your media overnight to make sure it sinks (which is really only an issue for pumice-type ceramic media).
Please take note of the license - if you'd like to sell this design or its derivatives, please get in contact with me.
