Hang a sponge filter to save tank floor space I designed this sponge filter rack to hang a sponge filter on the side of a fish tank instead of letting it sit on the bottom. The goal was to free up floor space while keeping the filter tucked neatly into a corner.I originally considered buying a sponge filter with suction cups, but I decided to DIY a hanger instead. The sponge filter I already use has a larger sponge than most “hang-on” options, provides great biological filtration, and fits well in a corner—so I didn’t want to replace it just to gain wall mounting. This rack lets me keep my existing filter, hang it securely on the tank wall, and maintain a clean, space-efficient setup.
