Day 41: Arcane Energy Collector. This came from a dream I had the other night. We’re always thinking about how to define the existence and function of magic in our Wayfarer multiverse setting, and the dream was about how magical energy, when spent to power a spell effect, has to shunt into the nearest reality where it can be collected. Often, this can result in it being collected by gestalt hell dimensions, nightmare realms, horrors from beyond space and time, et cetera, becoming “demonic energy” and feeding those malignant id-universes. As such, the Old Dominion (Arcane Division) set up these special pylons that collect and store magical energy before it can be corrupted (and to keep it from rupturing branar stability, which is also a danger). Since the New Dominion took over (and disbanded the Arcane Division), these stations have largely fallen into disrepair.
