The original model is based on 3d scans of vertebrae. I separated the vertebrae to allow for more accurate printing, and then added cutouts in each one for a TPU piece that goes through the vertebral bodies and allows for flexion of the would-be disc spaces. This allows for a lumbar spine that can flex with somewhat realistic motion for education. The intent of this model was to have a lumbar spine that demonstrates how intervertebral spaces change with lumbar flexion and extension for visualizing anatomy during epidural placement. To assemble the model, print the included 3mf file or add the vertebrae yourself to your plate with the flat part down and tree supports on. Print and clean the vertebrae, remembering which is which. Then print the TPU center piece and place between the vertebrae. Glue the vertebrae halves together with super glue. Please let me know if you have any issues. The end result is a flexible lumbar spine.
