My bedroom blinds were midly inconvienient to open/close, so I designed this thing to automate that process.
It's controlled using a NodeMCU esp8266, set up as a webserver/API, and pretending to be a Phillips Hue device, for Alexa to access it locally.
The motor used is a 5V 28byj-48 motor, controlled using a A4988 driver, with 7.5V input.
There is a gear reduction of 18/56, or 1:3.11, and takes about 3 minutes to fully close.
This is because I'm renting and the blinds that were here are quite heavy and requires more torque than the 5V motor can do.
The larger gear meshes with the existing pulley that came with the blinds, so this thing will only work if you have the same type of blinds.
There are also some 'spacers' I designed to move the blinds down and away from the window, to get the extra space needed for the large gear set.
