This is an automatic, motor-driven M&M dispenser. It is purpose-built for precision, as I used this project in another design of mine, the M&M Stock Ticker:

It uses wide-mouth mason jars as hoppers for M&Ms:

It is driven by a BYJ-48 Stepper Motor:
