This piece connects 2 ends of 3mm ball chain, the kind which is used for e.g. ceiling fan or light fixture pull-cords.
Not the prettiest piece in the world, but better than having a broken chain and small enough that nobody will really notice.
Balls press-fit tightly into the channels.
