I use this BananaPi (m1) as a headless server mounted under my desk. Adding space for a couple inexpensive 18650 batteries takes advantage of the built in charger to provide a handy little UPS for it.
The eBay special batteries are marked 6000mah, but are really only 1800s (do your reading when buying, stickers are cheap and lots of cells out there are mislabeled). Since I run this machine headless (only USB for power and Ethernet for access connected) I still get 4 hours of run time on battery.
For assembly I used:
- 4x M3x5 self tapping screws to hold the bpi.
- 2x M3x8 self tapping screws for the battery pack bar
- 4x M3x16 bolts to hold to two halves together (after threading the holes in the bottom with a 3mm tap).
